It’s our shop’s 6th birthday! We are so delighted to be celebrating 6 years of trading in beautiful Devon. With the many trials businesses face (covid being an unexpectedly big one!) we are so excited to be celebrating our 6th anniversary on March 4th 2024. 

Here’s a little background on how Frocks in Swing Time came to be…

A search to find a way to relax and destress from the demands of a teaching career, combined with a passion for vintage fashion led to Hayley visiting a vintage clothes fair. Her keen interest in the history and vibrancy of  dresses from the 1940’s to 1950’s developed into trading at vintage fairs with just a tiny, fold-up table and a single rail of frocks.  Her popularity and reputation for selling quality vintage inspired clothing quickly grew, Hayley soon expanded into larger vintage festivals and then made the leap to quit teaching and open a pop up shop in 2015.

Due to the success of the pop up, in March 2018, Hayley & her husband Gary decided to fulfill their dream of moving to Devon and opened Frocks in Swing Time, a boutique on Fore street, Exeter. Hayley filled the store with carefully handpicked items, chosen to complete an entire outfit from top to toe. 

Now 6 years on Frocks in Swing Time is thriving, offering personal styling to those who fancy a little help finding their ideal vintage inspired outfit. The business now employs two sales assistants, the lovely Rachel & Claire, who both share Hayley’s passion for vintage fashion and desire to help others find happiness in the way the dress.

This year we hope to bring the joy of Frocks to customers worldwide, with our shiny new website! Big changes have been made to our online platform, including suggesting items to team with your favourite frock, just as we would in store. We hope you like it!
